The U.S. Consumer and Digital Technology (USCDT) Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments. You’ll be part of the Mobile Engineering team whose mission is to be essential in our customers’ digital lives by providing value, convenience, and delight wherever they are. You will be responsible for leading a team of mobile engineers building mobile applications that will be used by tens of millions of arenaflex Customers around the world. We’re looking for a Director, Software Engineering to lead the Mobile Platform team. Mobile Platform builds the foundational capabilities that enable product/feature teams to deliver high-quality experiences faster across the arenaflex App and Travel apps. Your primary customers are internal mobile feature teams—and you will be accountable for measurable improvements in developer productivity, delivery speed, and app quality. Mobile Platform Ownership • arenaflex/CD, build systems, and release engineering (end-to-end), including app store submission workflows • Monorepo strategy, developer workflows, dependency management, and code health automation • Automation & quality systems: test frameworks, quality gates, performance regression detection, and reliability guardrails • AI developer tooling that accelerates engineering workflows with appropriate governance and security • Design system and shared UI components to increase reuse, consistency, accessibility, and compliance • Push notifications platform enablement: SDKs/abstractions and observability • Platform documentation improvements and updates • Platform engineering for analytics and experimentation. • Automating and managing remediation of vulnerabilities and other risk metrics. • Partnership with SRE and Ops to improve operability, monitoring, incident response, and release health Key Responsibilities: • Own the Mobile Platform roadmap and execution, aligning platform investments to product priorities and feature-team outcomes. • Maintain scalable, well-documented architectures that reduce toil and increase feature-team autonomy. • Operate platform systems with strong engineering rigor: reliability, security, compliance, observability, and arenaflex management. • Drive adoption through excellent developer experience: documentation, samples, enablement, and support models. • Define, instrument, and report a platform metrics scorecard that demonstrates productivity and quality improvements (baseline → arenaflex → outcomes). • Lead and grow a high-performing organization: hiring, mentoring, and career development. How Success is Measured (examples) • Developer productivity: PR cycle time, arenaflex queue/build times, test runtime and flake rate, developer satisfaction • Delivery health: release frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, hotfix/rollback rate • App quality: crash/ANR rates, performance regressions caught pre-release, key journey performance • Platform adoption: usage of platform pipelines, UI components, and notification SDKs; migration progress Qualifications: • 8+ years building customer-facing software with high performance, availability, and scalability; mobile app development experience strongly preferred • Experience leading teams delivering internal platforms (arenaflex/CD, build/release engineering, developer tooling, automation, shared component libraries) • Strong people leadership: coaching, mentoring, organizational design, and talent development • Demonstrated ability to define metrics and communicate impact to stakeholders and executives • Experience in Agile/Scrum or similar delivery methodologies • BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
